Sold out is not a dead end. Here's the math.

[Intro paragraph — two or three sentences that state the problem in the merchant’s words. Example: Every store has a best-seller that runs out. The button turns grey, the visitor leaves, and the sale goes to whoever has stock.]

What “Sold out” actually costs

[Body copy. Keep paragraphs to three or four lines. Use real numbers from REZ data wherever possible, in brackets until confirmed: a product that sells [N] units a week and is out of stock for [N] days loses roughly [$N].]

  • Lost sale: [one line]
  • Lost customer: [one line — they buy elsewhere and stay there]
  • Lost signal: [one line — you never learn how much demand there was]
Chart · 16:9Bar chart: revenue per week while in stock vs while sold out vs with preorder enabled. Three bars, orange for preorder.

“We recovered [N]% of sold-out revenue the first month.”

The preorder recovery rate

[Body copy explaining the recovery rate across REZ merchants, and what moves it: a visible ship date, a deposit option, a limit.]

Deposit or full payment?

[Body copy. A short decision rule: full payment for known restock dates under [N] weeks; deposits for longer waits or new products.]
